My 5 favorite book series

Image
Hey gems!  Today I am unleashing my nerd self and going all in on my 5 favorite book series . There's nothing I love more at the end of a long day than to cuddle up to a good book and get lost in its imaginary world. Some romance, some sci-fi, and a lot of daydreaming. After The After series is a total of 4 books, plus the “before” novel which now brings the total to 5.  The story is not a conventional love story between two teens, but so raw with emotion and struggle. The wild differences between the two main characters give readers a look into a relationship involving two drastically different people who might not be so different after all. It also gives us all hope for people to change, although that hope is extremely realistic. There is no magic life-changing moment, but four books, and many years of work and effort. I love that this series isn’t always pretty, but it brings readers in so deeply that you’ll find yourself laughing, crying, confused and maybe even t...

Summer Look Obsessions

Image
Hey there my gems! Summer may be over but its never too early or too late for some style tips! Heat wave after heat wave, my hometown has bone chilling winters, but this summer has turned up the heat! The warm weather has been amazing but means comfort and staying cool are most important! Some summer obsessions have definitely been based off the heat! Anything rayon is a no go Rayon is a material that I love for the look a lot of the time in winter or for blouses, but it doesn’t breathe at all. I’ve been on the lookout when shopping to make sure materials are breathable and won’t add any heat! Cotton is EVERYTHING! Pastels and florals Summer is my favourite time to play with lighter colours, especially since I’m a burgundy and brown winter style kind of girl. I’m living for pink pencil skirts, floral blouses and summer dresses of all colours. Did I buy a yellow pair of shoes and an orange purse? Yes, I did!!! Flirty fun When I’m not in the office it’s so fu...

The Bachelor

Image
Okay gems! Let’s get real! Some people love the bachelor franchise and some hate it! I’m the first to say that the show is not the most realistic and definitely for those of us who are hopeless romantics! BUT I LOVE IT! Listen, the bachelor franchise has a lot of drama, reality, not so real moments and a lot of gossip! It might be hard to fathom why a 20 something girl with multiple jobs and a full time school schedule would possibly waste time watching a show that offers absolutely nothing to her life. Let me tell you that’s EXACTLY why I watch! I want to turn my brain off and watch someone else’s life while I take a break from mine! Also TV drama is so juicy!!! SPOILERS COMING Let’s talk about Colton! Yes he’s a virgin and no I’m not going to even waste time on that aspect because it’s so overrated and way too talked about! The man is waiting for the one, what else is there to say? Rare, sure, but not any less valid than someone who hasn’t waited for the one! He's an adu...

My 2019 Winter Musts

Image
Okay gems we are deep into winter and it's time to acknowledge the fact that it's cold as F***!! So here are some things that I've been obsessing over all winter and that have really helped make the difference in 2019 so far! Masks Okay I have never been one to swear by face masks or use them that frequently. This season though I've definitely been working on my skin's health and working hard to keep it hydrated, not to mention the fab fit fun box provided the masks! (PS. I cant wait to get my spring box!!!!) So this Winter I've been doing 1-2 face masks a week, and using different ones depending on what my skin is looking like on that week. When I need a rougher scrub I use the Lush Coffee mask, if I need a smoother, calming, foaming scrub, it's always a mint mask and finally, for a refresh I love the Hydrating overnight mask by La Neige. Makeup I know I've mentioned before that makeup isn't consistent for me but since my new job is mo...

Over It

Image
Anyone else have days where things just aren't looking up? I'm having one of those days right now and I realized that in my blog I try to be as motivating as possible, so this might not be something I would have normally wrote about, but I want to be real on this blog. Honestly, it's also super therapeutic.  I woke up today, after a bad sleep and I was just not ready for the day. My energy was at 0, then I had to stay at work longer, and had a longer commute. Came home and sometimes the sarcastic comments just cannot be handled. Like today. I can't tolerate any sass, even though usually I'd just respond with my own sassy comment. Someday's the reply is just no. The thing is I don't know what to change, if anyone has suggestions please let me know. I have school, work and my internship, and then my little amount of alone time which I generally spend catching up on my TV shows. For a few weeks I didn't have the alone time, I worked all the time but t...

Morning Routine 2019

Image
Hey there my sleepy gems, I've definitely always considered myself a morning person, but this last month has kicked my butt! I've even been making sure I go to bed by a decent hour, but always wake up feeling like I could sleep another 12 hours. Mornings have been very rough especially since my work hours and school hours are so different. Some mornings I wake up at 5 am, others at 9 am and well, never usually later than that. I've made a few changes in the morning that have really started to make huge difference in how I feel and wake up! Don't get me wrong trying to get enough sleep is still a struggle but here are some things that I do to help me wake up in the morning and feel fresh! Face Wash! Okay so this might be obvious to some, but I've never been a person who showers or washes her face in the morning! I'm an evening shower person, but I found that washing my face, even just rinsing it with cold water, has an instant wake up effect. The cool water...

Epic Girls' Weekend

Image
Okay my gems time to get serious. There are just times in life where the only answer to any problem is girl time. The weather cools, girl time. The post-holidays stress sets in, girl time. The answer is always girl time. So, as the holidays ended and school was looming, we had an extravaganza! It started with flights being booked because we sadly don't all live in the same place. Then a plan was made and BAM we were ready to go! Honestly, the excitement of knowing a girls' weekend is coming is in itself enough! Also knowing sushi was involved, because I love sushi! Here's how it went down! Picked up one cutie from the airport, and since everyone else was working that day, we had a little relaxing afternoon, watched a chick flick, unpacked, settled in and got ready for SUSHI! Okay so to be super honest here, I think my extreme anticipation of the sushi night lead to my own problem. You know when you want something so bad and think about how amazing it will taste...

New Year Obsessions

Image
Hey gems! With the new year kicking off I have a few new finds and obsessions that I am LIVING for! Some skin care, fashion and randoms! Argon oil Okay so for the first time in my life, which is way too late, I walked into The Body Shop. I discovered the nicest staff members, who were so sweet and patient with my billions of questions and introduced me to Argon oil, which is really similar to Coconut oil. I bought the oil in a spray form and I spray my whole body about three times a week. Especially in the winter, with my skin drying out super fast. I absolutely love the feeling the oil gives my skin and it gets rubbed in so easily that it doesn't just stay there and leave you oily and unable to move! I'm a moisturizing freak so this is definitely something I'm super happy about! Robe So for Christmas I got THE SOFTEST robe! It's gorgeous, cozy and I'm obsessed! I have never had a robe before that I actually used, and then I outgrew them when I really wanted ...

My 2019 Vision Board

Image
Hey there gems, With the new year coming I always like to take a second and asses where I'm at in my life. I started making lists and resolutions, which all eventually lead to my annual vision boards. Every year as the new year approaches, I take down my current board and start the next one. I love doing this! I find it so nice to see where I was at a year ago and what events happened both expected and unexpected! I start with my categories and decide what needs to be on my board. This year is almost identical to last year with categories including: Family & Friends, Financial, Career, Travel, Health, Personal, Blog(because it took too much space in career) and finally, Other. I love doing these categories because it helps me organize and focus my thoughts, not to mention makes my board easy to follow. I try to make my goals attainable but still challenging, that way when I achieve them I feel great, but I know they required some work. I thought it might be helpful for you...
