Goal Setting
Hey gems,
I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about tips for
setting goals and how I set up my goals. I think this is coming up especially
being so early in the New Year a lot of people are renewing the energy they put
into their goals.
I mentioned a few of my resolutions and goals for the year,
so I thought I would start off with a few updates for you all! Firstly, I keep
my job separate from the blog, but one of my big goals in 2020 was to work
towards being promoted and I am happy to report that the New Year kicked off
with a great start which included a promotion! Next up, one of the goals that
has been recurring but that I have had a lot of difficulty sticking to in the
as is working out and building a healthier lifestyle. Well, for the last three
weeks I have successfully stuck to my workout plans of 3 times a week, sometimes
more, and I have already seen a huge improvement in my energy, motivation and
my body! Another goal of mine was to write a book, although this is a longer
term goal, I have been pushing myself to work on my writing at least once a
week and I am slowly but surely building on a story line!
Now let’s get to how I chose my goals, how I stick to them,
and ultimately, how I succeed.
The first item to remember is that if your goals are unattainable
then you are setting yourself up for a failure. Make sure to set yourself up
for nothing but success. If you aren’t sure about this, start with small goals,
on shorter timelines, and as you build on those you will lean what is doable
for you an your lifestyle and be able to plan for more long-term goals as you
go. Give yourself time and be patient with your goals. A realistic timeline is
also crucial, you won’t change in 24 hours. Remember, it takes 21 days to make
something a habit, let alone see any results.
Next up is something I do about twice a year. This is so fun
for me, it taps into not only my goals but my creativity and takes up some time
so it builds into a hobby. This is building a vision board. My vision boards
have changed from some having only images, others including motivational
quotes, to my current one which very simply has a variety of goals in no
particular order. Some of them are much more long-term while others are much
more short-term. As they are achieved, I cross them out. I find it really
important to see your goals daily, to have the satisfaction of seeing what you’ve
accomplished very literally right in front of you.
Something that I do on a daily level is a smaller scale
vision board, my to-do list. I have to-do lists for everything. For my workday,
my home life, my cleaning, my workout, etc. I over do it for sure, but lists
are how I know I will remember every item and be sure to do them. It is also a
huge confidence booster to cross off item after item. Many of them are simple
tasks that I would do regardless, like meal planning, or planning my outfits.
Regardless of the fact that these tasks are menial, they are crucial to
boosting my mood daily because they immediately make me feel accomplished.
These are my tips to achieve your goals but the important thing is to find what works for you my gems and stick to it!
Find you groove and work with it!
