New Year Update!

 Hi Gems, 

Wow it has been a while. The last time I wrote and published on here was in October which honestly feels like a lifetime. As the holidays came and went, we rang in the new year and I find myself thinking a lot about not only lessons learned this year but the direction I want to aim for when going into 2024. 

As you may know if you follow my other platforms, I am getting married this year which feels surreal! It's been so far away for so long and here we are counting down less then a year! I also am so proud of Tia things on Instagram, TikTok and Youtube because I really have pushed myself to create more all while having fun! With all of this in mind, here are some of my goals going into 2024:

1. Have a life outside of wedding planning 

Wedding planning has genuinely been so fun and even in the stress-inducing times, I would not change anything for the world. I am so proud of how much we have done, saved, planned, etc. as we put together our perfect day. I am proud to say most, if not all, of the heavy lifting is done, so the next few months will be small items on and off until the big day! With that said, I really want to make sure I spend time outside of wedding planning dedicated to my other hobbies and goals. 

2. Continue to build TiaThings

Tia things has grown so much this year and I am personally so proud of every landmark. I also had the most doubt and concern about looking silly. I thought about taking everything down a few times but if anything that only motivates me more to create more and build on what I have so far. 

3. Fitness and health

I am doing much better with maintaining workouts and a generally healthy lifestyle the last few months, that's something I really want to maintain. The issue for me lately has been my immune system, I am constantly getting sick whether it be a small cold or a bad week of being under the weather. I really want to build my immune system up and make sure to take the best care of myself as we go into 2024. 

4. Finances and planning

We have been on a major savings spree as we roll closer and closer to our wedding. That being said we also had to unexpectedly get new appliances and put deposits down nonstop. We are going in 2024 working harder than ever on savings and planning for all the items we know are to come!

It is going to be a year for the books, that is for sure! Trying to maintain our growing careers, social life and wedding plans is a tall order but the key for me is to work on enjoying as much as possible. Doing my best to keep anxiety and stress at bay!

 Hey gems,  I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine as summer is approaching! We have been busy trying to pick out all the furniture for the new place. It has been quite a wild journey to get here so I thought I would take some time to review everything that has been going on! Firstly, my favourite store by far is Structube , it is my favourite place and has such a great variety of items but way less overwhelming then a big store like Ikea.  The first thing we picked is our dining table and chairs. The chairs are warm brown leather and the table has a fake live edge that I LOVE! This was the easiest item to choose by far! This is all in a warm theme and tones that will go well with the dark floors and cabinets. Low budget Fall (lockdown) date ideas

Hey gems! How is everyone doing? Recently I have had to get super creative when it comes to date nights especially with the new lockdown we are limited in where we can go. So of course date night often include walks because not only is it great to get fresh air but it helps with the mental components of being stuck inside. We get tired of them quick though and need to mix it up during the week so here is what I came up with! Turn TV into games: You can chose any show or movie you are watching and turn it into a game! For example, every time a certain character says their catch phrase you either take a bite, drink or do something silly that you both agree on! it can be something silly or answering any question! This basically gets as creative as you want to! Newlywed game (quiz) Basically any type of quizzing each other on how well you know each other! We did this with my sister and her boyfriend as a competition but it can be fun just between the two of you as well! This is super cute

Dear 2020

Dear 2020, You certainly threw us for a loop didn’t you? We were all chanting about 20/20 vision and you thought “Ha just wait and see!”. Not only did you show us just how quickly we can lose everything we thought we would always have, you have given us a new appreciation for things we used to let go unnoticed.  In March, we all thought we were getting a fun two weeks of break, two weeks working from home, a little fun time. Boy oh boy did we learn pretty quick that we would be home and confided longer and with more restrictions added on weekly.  At first, part of me loved it. I’ve always been a home body but man did that get pushed to every limit possible. I never wished I can do little things like go to the movies or a mall without being terrified of how many items I’m touching more in my life. 2020 has given us the gift of perception.
