Dear 2020

Image
Dear 2020, You certainly threw us for a loop didn’t you? We were all chanting about 20/20 vision and you thought “Ha just wait and see!”. Not only did you show us just how quickly we can lose everything we thought we would always have, you have given us a new appreciation for things we used to let go unnoticed.  In March, we all thought we were getting a fun two weeks of break, two weeks working from home, a little fun time. Boy oh boy did we learn pretty quick that we would be home and confided longer and with more restrictions added on weekly.  At first, part of me loved it. I’ve always been a home body but man did that get pushed to every limit possible. I never wished I can do little things like go to the movies or a mall without being terrified of how many items I’m touching more in my life. 2020 has given us the gift of perception. There are so many things that used to be so important that now seem minimal, and things we took for granted that seem impossible to part with...

How to: Side Hustle

Image
Hey hey hey my gems! I have been very vocal on my Instagram this week about being busy with not only my full-time job but my side hustle, online class and more. I got tones of questions about my side hustle and some small how to questions. 1. I want to start a side hustle but don't know what direction to go in? Think of things you love, things you enjoy, that calm you, etc. List them, write them and review them. When you find the activity, item or passion that you want to pursue it is a huge weight lifted because you finally have a direction in which to move. 2. I've decided what I want my side income to be based on but how do I start? This is tricky because it's not as simple as it seems and it sure isn't a one size fits all situation. The truth is that depending on what your project is, who you are and how you work, this can be drastically different. I personally made some goals. I actually based my goals and my starting off on college application process in th...

Goal Setting

Image
Hey gems, I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about tips for setting goals and how I set up my goals. I think this is coming up especially being so early in the New Year a lot of people are renewing the energy they put into their goals. I mentioned a few of my resolutions and goals for the year, so I thought I would start off with a few updates for you all! Firstly, I keep my job separate from the blog, but one of my big goals in 2020 was to work towards being promoted and I am happy to report that the New Year kicked off with a great start which included a promotion! Next up, one of the goals that has been recurring but that I have had a lot of difficulty sticking to in the as is working out and building a healthier lifestyle. Well, for the last three weeks I have successfully stuck to my workout plans of 3 times a week, sometimes more, and I have already seen a huge improvement in my energy, motivation and my body! Another goal of mine was to write a book, although th...

2020 Resolutions

Image
Hey gems, With 2020 officially kicked off I thought I would let you guys in on my resolutions! This year I feel like resolutions mean a little more since it's a whole new decade everything is bigger and better! My first resolution involves cooking. I am surrounded by amazing cooks, which is amazing, but also means that I actually don't have to cook as often and therefore... I suck. I love food but not the prepping aspects. So one of my resolutions is to find a love for the kitchen space and slowly but surely find recipes that inspire me. Next up is one that I have every year, working out. I know this is quite generic but I tend to have phases of months of great workouts and then months of nothing, then back in and out of it. I want to  be more consistent overall with my workouts, even if they are less frequent but more consistent! Third is a really big one for me and it is to truly find a balance, a meditation, a way of getting away from my thoughts. When I start overt...

My Weight Journey

Image
Alright everyone time to get real! I've talked in the past about my lacking motivation for working out. Well here we go, I am MOTIVATED! My summer vacation is booked and I did gain quite a bit of weight in the last year. Not that it is about the numbers but there are certain areas, such as my thighs and tummy, that I really want firmer, not to mention I want to feel confident and proud on the beach! I also want to be healthier and make sure to balaynce other aspects like stress, food and sleep. So I'm really aiming for a way healthier lifestyle in general. Jumping into this I follow a lot of workout accounts on Pinterest and Instagram that put up really easy to follow workouts and food tips so my plan is to follow those as much as possible and make smart food choices. I think that a huge factor will be the fact that my schedule during school was hectic and always changing so consistency was not easy to maintain. Now that I’m settling  into a new and consistent routine I ...

Slow and Steady

Image
Hey there my gems, lately working through all of the things I want to accomplish, my goals, and generally the life I want to build. I've realized that I setting myself up for stress and disappointment. Not because my goals are set high or because my dreams are grand, but really because I'm biting off way more than I can chew. I want a job, I want great grades, I want to get my summer body ready, I want to decorate, I want alone time but I also need to allow for socializing or I'll go nuts. I'm realizing that the truth is, I probably won't get my dream job right away and that's okay because I'll work toward it and build up to it. I also am trying to come to grips with the struggle between travel and savings. I think that there is definitely a way to achieve small trips, or big ones if they are planned well, and save at the same time. My issue with saving money is currently that I am working as much as I can this semester, but it is only half the hour...

2019 Resolutions

Image
Cheers to the New Year!! It's 2019 and that means digging into those resolutions! I've shown you my vision board which has detailed goals and dreams for the upcoming year but let's talk resolutions! There are three main focuses I want to have for my resolutions which involve health, being less of a hermit and control. Too vague? Let's dig in! Health has always been something I've been wanting to constantly improve, but this year I've gone through some interesting phases including healthy eating, not so healthy eating, getting sick constantly and finally starting to work out. I really want to focus on my health, and making sure I keep as consistent as possible! I found a new vitamin regiment that has been super helpful in preventing my reoccurring strep, sinus and ear infections, which is so amazing! So I'm definitely looking forward to continuing that and staying far, far away from clinics! But the tough thing for me has always been working out and bein...

My 2019 Vision Board

Image
Hey there gems, With the new year coming I always like to take a second and asses where I'm at in my life. I started making lists and resolutions, which all eventually lead to my annual vision boards. Every year as the new year approaches, I take down my current board and start the next one. I love doing this! I find it so nice to see where I was at a year ago and what events happened both expected and unexpected! I start with my categories and decide what needs to be on my board. This year is almost identical to last year with categories including: Family & Friends, Financial, Career, Travel, Health, Personal, Blog(because it took too much space in career) and finally, Other. I love doing these categories because it helps me organize and focus my thoughts, not to mention makes my board easy to follow. I try to make my goals attainable but still challenging, that way when I achieve them I feel great, but I know they required some work. I thought it might be helpful for you...

Twitter Obsession

Image
Hey there my gems! I have a blog update for you all! As you know my blog has it's own Instagram and Twitter, but truthfully I've been way more focused on the Instagram account than the twitter. The reason for this, is that I personally love Instagram in general, my personal account is so fun and I've never had Twitter so it was way more intimidating for me to start. The first time I experienced Twitter was for a class project this semester. We had to try to get celebrities and their fans to reply to us. As most of you know, fans are viciously protective of their idols. What I also realized pretty quickly is that there was no response to positive tweets or questions, but most replies were to negative comments. I tried asking questions and being supportive to various celebrities and getting involved in feeds but got minimal response. Since the exercise required me to get fans' attention I finally found a post where I could comment something which I thought would get at...
