How to: Side Hustle

Image
Hey hey hey my gems! I have been very vocal on my Instagram this week about being busy with not only my full-time job but my side hustle, online class and more. I got tones of questions about my side hustle and some small how to questions. 1. I want to start a side hustle but don't know what direction to go in? Think of things you love, things you enjoy, that calm you, etc. List them, write them and review them. When you find the activity, item or passion that you want to pursue it is a huge weight lifted because you finally have a direction in which to move. 2. I've decided what I want my side income to be based on but how do I start? This is tricky because it's not as simple as it seems and it sure isn't a one size fits all situation. The truth is that depending on what your project is, who you are and how you work, this can be drastically different. I personally made some goals. I actually based my goals and my starting off on college application process in th...

Goal Setting

Image
Hey gems, I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about tips for setting goals and how I set up my goals. I think this is coming up especially being so early in the New Year a lot of people are renewing the energy they put into their goals. I mentioned a few of my resolutions and goals for the year, so I thought I would start off with a few updates for you all! Firstly, I keep my job separate from the blog, but one of my big goals in 2020 was to work towards being promoted and I am happy to report that the New Year kicked off with a great start which included a promotion! Next up, one of the goals that has been recurring but that I have had a lot of difficulty sticking to in the as is working out and building a healthier lifestyle. Well, for the last three weeks I have successfully stuck to my workout plans of 3 times a week, sometimes more, and I have already seen a huge improvement in my energy, motivation and my body! Another goal of mine was to write a book, although th...

New Car

Image
Hey gems After years of people hassling me about why I don't have my own car, watching all my friends get their first cars, and daydreaming about the day I would have my own, the day has finally come! I am now the proud owner of a compact SUV! It finally feels as though the wait was worth it now that I have my very own car! (Also known as Troy the Truck- yes, I name my car) I didn't think it would mean so much to me, but this car really does make me proud of all my hard work, savings and makes the wait to own a car worth it. I've spent 7 years sharing cars with my parents and watching everyone around me show off their first cars. I am proud to say that I can now be the driver that takes the girls out on shopping days, drives on date night and can go do the groceries- not that I want to do the groceries!  I only began to truly want my own car when I started working full time. The desire for a car really amplified recently when I went on my third road trip a...

How to Survive University

Image
Hey there my busy bees! Life has some hectic moments, and although I've loved school all my life, university has definitely been a tough three years. There's been a mix of perfect and hectic times but through it all I learned so much. Here are some tips to staying ahead and surviving the three-four years of university you might be in! 1. Lists The best thing to do to keep up with assignments, part time jobs, exams, and readings is to make lists. It sounds a little redundant maybe, but being able to see what you have to do, in what order and when it is all due, is extremely helpful. 2. Everyone is in the same boat I know this sounds a little obvious but when things are at their most hectic, it helps to remember that you're not the only one trying to keep up. Everyone is working and attending school, some from far away and some work 3 jobs. We're all just trying to manage and survive through it all. Leaning on people around you, opening up, and being honest about...

Over It

Image
Anyone else have days where things just aren't looking up? I'm having one of those days right now and I realized that in my blog I try to be as motivating as possible, so this might not be something I would have normally wrote about, but I want to be real on this blog. Honestly, it's also super therapeutic.  I woke up today, after a bad sleep and I was just not ready for the day. My energy was at 0, then I had to stay at work longer, and had a longer commute. Came home and sometimes the sarcastic comments just cannot be handled. Like today. I can't tolerate any sass, even though usually I'd just respond with my own sassy comment. Someday's the reply is just no. The thing is I don't know what to change, if anyone has suggestions please let me know. I have school, work and my internship, and then my little amount of alone time which I generally spend catching up on my TV shows. For a few weeks I didn't have the alone time, I worked all the time but t...

2019 Resolutions

Image
Cheers to the New Year!! It's 2019 and that means digging into those resolutions! I've shown you my vision board which has detailed goals and dreams for the upcoming year but let's talk resolutions! There are three main focuses I want to have for my resolutions which involve health, being less of a hermit and control. Too vague? Let's dig in! Health has always been something I've been wanting to constantly improve, but this year I've gone through some interesting phases including healthy eating, not so healthy eating, getting sick constantly and finally starting to work out. I really want to focus on my health, and making sure I keep as consistent as possible! I found a new vitamin regiment that has been super helpful in preventing my reoccurring strep, sinus and ear infections, which is so amazing! So I'm definitely looking forward to continuing that and staying far, far away from clinics! But the tough thing for me has always been working out and bein...

The Best of 2018

Image
Hey gems! With the new year coming up I thought it would be super fun to go over the best of 2018! This includes moments, ideas, achievements, etc. Because really I need to give myself props and realize that there's nothing wrong with that. I have to start with the most obvious: Starting this blog. I started my blog after months of procrastination in September 2018 and within just three months have amassed over 3000 views and hundreds of Instagram and Twitter followers! (@Tiathingsblog). This blog has been such a positive outlet for me, a creative space, a challenge and a blessing. Through the amazing messages of support, the responses to my writing style and the creative demands, I truly feel that starting this blog was the right way for me to go and I'm so proud of my timing. Summer 2018 was a roller-coaster ride. After my dream vacation was cancelled, I pushed myself through the overwhelming disappointment to create memories in my hometown and try all kinds of new activ...

My 2019 Vision Board

Image
Hey there gems, With the new year coming I always like to take a second and asses where I'm at in my life. I started making lists and resolutions, which all eventually lead to my annual vision boards. Every year as the new year approaches, I take down my current board and start the next one. I love doing this! I find it so nice to see where I was at a year ago and what events happened both expected and unexpected! I start with my categories and decide what needs to be on my board. This year is almost identical to last year with categories including: Family & Friends, Financial, Career, Travel, Health, Personal, Blog(because it took too much space in career) and finally, Other. I love doing these categories because it helps me organize and focus my thoughts, not to mention makes my board easy to follow. I try to make my goals attainable but still challenging, that way when I achieve them I feel great, but I know they required some work. I thought it might be helpful for you...
