5 ways to put your mental health first

Image
Hi Gems,  Welcome back to Tia Things!  Tonight we are chatting about mental health and some ways I have learned to put it at the forefront of my life. Firstly, I can't say I have previously dealt with a tone of mental health issues, but this year, after many difficult moments of loss, grief, stress, anxiety, things started to pile on. I dealt with my lowest lows, and have since then worked on maintaining the most healthy balance I can.  Of course, one of the biggest challenges is the fact that you cannot control the issues, difficulties or outside factors that come your way, so here are 5 ways I keep my mental health as a top priority.  1. Speak your feelings: I have learned that bottling things up, holding on, or trying to just "push through", doesn't work for me. I need to verbalize my feelings and mental state in order to move forward, through and onward. So first things first, I express myself in the good, the bad and the everyday. This is also great because as a...

Quarantine with T

Image
Hey gems, I know times are tough right now and depending on where you are your life is affected in all kinds of different ways. Right now in my area we are on lock down and we are effectively in quarantine. I am not sick, nor is my family, but we are choosing to stay away from the public just to keep ourselves as safe as possible. I know people have very varying opinions based on where they are, their rules, those around them, etc. to  each their own is definitely something I am seeing a lot of, but at the end if the day let's all try to do our part and keep each other safe. Here are a few things I've been doing during the lock down that have been super helpful!! 1. Scheduling By making schedules for everyday, whether it be days where I am working from home or the weekend, has been a super helpful tool. If I don't make these schedules I feel like my time isn't used at all and I end up spending my whole weekends binge watching and my weekdays taking no mental ...

My Weight Journey

Image
Alright everyone time to get real! I've talked in the past about my lacking motivation for working out. Well here we go, I am MOTIVATED! My summer vacation is booked and I did gain quite a bit of weight in the last year. Not that it is about the numbers but there are certain areas, such as my thighs and tummy, that I really want firmer, not to mention I want to feel confident and proud on the beach! I also want to be healthier and make sure to balaynce other aspects like stress, food and sleep. So I'm really aiming for a way healthier lifestyle in general. Jumping into this I follow a lot of workout accounts on Pinterest and Instagram that put up really easy to follow workouts and food tips so my plan is to follow those as much as possible and make smart food choices. I think that a huge factor will be the fact that my schedule during school was hectic and always changing so consistency was not easy to maintain. Now that I’m settling  into a new and consistent routine I ...

2019 Resolutions

Image
Cheers to the New Year!! It's 2019 and that means digging into those resolutions! I've shown you my vision board which has detailed goals and dreams for the upcoming year but let's talk resolutions! There are three main focuses I want to have for my resolutions which involve health, being less of a hermit and control. Too vague? Let's dig in! Health has always been something I've been wanting to constantly improve, but this year I've gone through some interesting phases including healthy eating, not so healthy eating, getting sick constantly and finally starting to work out. I really want to focus on my health, and making sure I keep as consistent as possible! I found a new vitamin regiment that has been super helpful in preventing my reoccurring strep, sinus and ear infections, which is so amazing! So I'm definitely looking forward to continuing that and staying far, far away from clinics! But the tough thing for me has always been working out and bein...

S T R E S S E D

Hey guys, Anyone else feeling the weight of the semester getting heavier or is that just me? I thought today I'd do something different than my tips and tricks and just let you guys know what I'm struggling with and what is happening that is keeping life so hectic! First of all, school is school. There's no escaping it and the moment you think you're ahead, you fall three steps behind. I am definitely feeling the stress and the expectations of profs getting more and more restraining. I feel like because I love school and generally do well, people think that I never have a hard time. Which could not be farther from the truth. I have such a hard time getting through stress and putting my worries to the side. I am a self diagnosed snow-baller. If you don't know what I am talking about, I basically think of one thing that can go wrong, then everything that will snowball from there and basically I'll end up living at home forever. Next up is work, my part ti...

Workout Dilemma

Image
Hey guys, Today's blog is all about the hard truth we're all trying to manage. Some people love working out, some hate it. Some are naturally healthy eaters, others not so much. I'm somewhere in the blurred lines. I love food, but I can fight cravings, most of the time. I don't mind working out, once I'm in the gym, mindset and ready to go, but getting there is the issue. I'm no gym buff, but I like to do some 30 day challenges; basics, nothing fancy Nancy over here. I usually find the challenges I want to follow on Pinterest because they have so many great options. I just enjoy letting out some steam, especially when I'm stressed or mad. I really wish I could say I loved the gym, I went 3-4 times a week and I know exactly how to eat right. Nope, your girl loves her Oreo's, carbs and damn gimme some sugar. If I know I'll be eating really unhealthy soon, for example a family event or vacation, I'll be more conscious of what I'm eating leadi...

Heartbeats: Flutter, Break and Remix

Hey guys, This post will be a little different, more serious than any of my others and honestly I'm nervous. I know that so many people have gone through similar situations so I feel that it would be really beautiful to share. I re-wrote this about six times trying to find the right balance between personal, private and honest… so here goes nothing. The truth is my first relationship was about a year and a half long during and after high school. This first relationship was the Flutter . The relationship started fine, and then went downhill fast. There was a lot of disrespect and condescension and I made every excuse possible as to why it was acceptable. I thought about ending it multiple times but always decided to stay, to give it one more shot, to try harder. It was me, I could make it better, etc. The truth is I thought letting go meant giving up, but I was so wrong. Only the strongest people can see so clearly and be so brave, as to let go of something they want so bad. F...
