Book Review: Bailey Brothers

Good morning gems,  welcome to another blog about... you guessed it BOOKS! I read a 5 book series by Claire Kingsley this week called The Bailey Brothers . The five books follow four brother through a tumultuous few years where everything from prison to unexpected pregnancies happen. The books really create a gorgeous family dynamic that makes readers root for the brothers from the get go. There is nothing like loving every character in a book and then watching each grow by having their own books! Book 1 & 2 follow the oldest brother Asher in his love story and eventually in a huge 7 year jump due to a very sad turn of events. This duet encompasses all brothers and the repercussions of a tragic day hit the family for the three following books. I don't want to spoil things but the romance for Asher is really kicked off immediately when his childhood best friend comes home from college and he gets his head out of his ass. When all is basically a hallmark movie is when a hug...

Reading the Bridgerton series in one week

Hey gems,  As you all know, your girl loves to read. I finally got around to reading Julia Quinn's Bridgeton book series and I am so happy I did! First, it's important for me to say that I did watch the Netflix season so I definitely had some background information and knowledge on the storyline. Also, to give everyone some perspective on the timeline here, I read the first five books in one weekend and then finish the series the following weekend. So within 7 days but with the weekdays as a break.  Book one, I was worried that because I loved the TV series so much book one might fall flat, but boy oh boy, it most certainly did not. The book was as good, if not better then the series! I do have to say that I was really impressed by how similar the series on tv followed the book, usually there are much bigger differences between adaptations. Sometimes I get some annoyed by the big changes from book to movie that I don't watch but this was done so well.  Knowing the ...

Quarantine Books

Hey gems, Books have been such a good way for me to take a mental break and get a little escape from the coziness of my bed. So here are my top book recommendations for you bookworms in quarantine right now! 1.        Saint Anything Saint Anything is one of Sarah Dessen’s newer books and I love it! She usually is on to go deep into a teen romance with stories to make us all dream a little. The reason why this book really stood out tome is because although it does have a romantic story, the romance isn’t the main story line, but the main character finding herself, her strength, etc. It was still in the realm of what readers are used to from Sarah Dessen but I loved the twist and the higher focus on family life, teenage struggles, and the old age tale of finding your strength. Although the romance aspects are adorable and really add to the story, the male character is really supportive and even when they aren’t together, he is still her biggest cheer...

The After Series

Image
Alright gems, I recently read the entire 4 part series of the After books and I loved them! The books are dark and twisted but amazing and loving. The relationship between Tessa and Hardin is expected in some ways, she's the "good girl" he's the VERY bad boy. But he seems to want to be better when she's around and he brings out a life in her that she never had before. Hardin is a bad boy for sure, he parties a lot and his friends are beyond questionable, no to mention  his anger issues. Tessa was raised by a military like mother and always did what was right, just because she was told. They bring out opposites in each other in a way that gets readers rooting for them. Hardin is constantly trying to be better and change for Tessa. The books are long and I won't lie I needed a break between book 2 and 3 because the emotional roller coaster was just too much. They break up and make up A LOT and they aren't pretending, they really are trying to bet...

Saint Anything

Image
Hey there my gems, Who's ready for a little romance? I have loved Sarah Dessen's work for years now, she is a true artist at creating a story her readers can dive into and believe all the way. This story brings in that romance that Dessen is known for but also so much more. A difficult family dynamic, a creepy guy lurking around and a friendship we can all relate to. Oh and lots of pizza too! Not only does Saint Anything show a beautiful story of personal growth where Sydney, the main character, finds her balance in the most tumultuous of times, but also strength she didn't know she had. This book is one for all those who need a reminder that they are so much more then their situation. The book starts off by throwing it's readers into a court room without much context, that's where we are introduced to some of our characters including Sydney and her family. This is where we start; devastation. Honestly, this gets you emotionally involved right away. The gr...

The Summer I turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Image
Jenny Han is currently most known for her book "To all the boys I've loved before" which is now a Netflix phenomenon. However, it isn't the first book of hers I fell in love with. "The Summer I Turned Pretty" is my all time favorite novel and leads into a trilogy I've read over and over again countless times! This is definitely my go-to for a romance that doesn't come easy, requires some crazy twists, turns and a whole lot of patience. The series starts off with a great breakdown of the summer context, families, friendships and never ending teen crushes. Little do readers know- I mean now you'll know- that those teen crushes are going to take you on a roller coaster of loss, pain, beauty, friendship, and A LOVE TRIANGLE YAS! The twists and emotions in her writing make me laugh and cry, even though I've already read the books fifteen times and know what's coming.  Anyone looking for a Summer romance that will take you for a wild and ...

Fall Obsessions

Image
Fall has officially arrived in all its glory! Which unfortunately means some rain but also means it’s time for a Fall Obsessions segment! I've already done the Fashion Faves so I thought it would be fun to do some fall must haves too! Honestly, I'm a summer gal, but I can't complain about the wool sweater and fluffy scarf weather. So here we are, it’s cold season and as a person who gets sick (all the time), but still loves the cool weather, I think a Fall Obsessions blog is a must. David's Tea I'm an obsessive tea drinker and there are two that I always have on hand in the colder seasons of the year.   Cold 911  is a must for anyone who gets sick in the colder weather, but also anyone who loves minty smells. This tea is so soothing it smells just like Vaporub and is perfect for any days you're feeling like you need a little boost.  Sore Throat Rescue  is my second fall must, yes the title is literally promoting itself as a sore throat tea, BUT the ...
