Quarantine Books

Hey gems,
Books have been such a good way for me to take a mental break and get a little escape from the coziness of my bed. So here are my top book recommendations for you bookworms in quarantine right now!

1.      Saint Anything
Saint Anything is one of Sarah Dessen’s newer books and I love it! She usually is on to go deep into a teen romance with stories to make us all dream a little. The reason why this book really stood out tome is because although it does have a romantic story, the romance isn’t the main story line, but the main character finding herself, her strength, etc. It was still in the realm of what readers are used to from Sarah Dessen but I loved the twist and the higher focus on family life, teenage struggles, and the old age tale of finding your strength. Although the romance aspects are adorable and really add to the story, the male character is really supportive and even when they aren’t together, he is still her biggest cheerleader which is just an A+ in showing young girls what they deserve.

2.      The Darkest Minds Series
This series has been one of my favorites since I first saw the movie. Again this movie has a great love story and there is a lot of finding each other, literally, but there are also a lot of moments where the characters are apart and the main female character is the hero. Overall, the series is really a roller coaster ride with a lot of twists and turns but the stories of strength, friendship and solidarity keep you hooked.

3.     Becoming
Michelle Obama’s book has been on my reading list for a long time and I finally had the time to get around to it. I usually am not the biggest fan of autobiography style books but this one’s really a mix of an inspirational, self-motivation and biographical book. I love how she walks us through the journey of her entire life. Her description of her schooling at different levels and the interactions between students and the beginning of her career as not only a woman of color but also a young woman are such perfectly painted pictures. I really love how no matter who you are, where you come from and what your life story is, you can always find something in her story to relate to.

New Year Update!

 Hi Gems,  Wow it has been a while. The last time I wrote and published on here was in October which honestly feels like a lifetime. Furniture shopping

 Hey gems,  I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine as summer is approaching! We have been busy trying to pick out all the furniture for the new place. It has been quite a wild journey to get here so I thought I would take some time to review everything that has been going on! Firstly, my favourite store by far is Structube , it is my favourite place and has such a great variety of items but way less overwhelming then a big store like Ikea.  The first thing we picked is our dining table and chairs. The chairs are warm brown leather and the table has a fake live edge that I LOVE! This was the easiest item to choose by far! This is all in a warm theme and tones that will go well with the dark floors and cabinets. We also have been very budget conscious in the whole process and the table was a great price for a larger size so this was a no-brainer.  The next main items I picked out are decor because I had some very specific ideas like a gallery wall and big mirrors! She's a wife!

Hi gems, after soooo much time away from the blog I am back with a life update! I have now been married for a month and had the most incredible honeymoon! We are just getting back home and resetting into a routine. The switch back to reality isn't an easy one but we are still on cloud nine from the events of the summer so that certainly helps! So with that said I think we are well overdo on a life update! Your girl is welcoming fall after a month in Europe and an incredible summer! Not only did my bestfriends get married in the most magical day, but we got to have a summer filled with so many celebrations. Summer 2024 will go down in the history books for sure as a summer of love. I also had another major life change earlier in the summer, I changed job! After five years at an agency, with the people I loved and who taught me so much. I got an opportunity at a company that is HUGE and rated a top company to work for. The job itself and benefits made it a deal I could not turn down....
