Reading the Bridgerton series in one week

 Hey gems,

As you all know, your girl loves to read. I finally got around to reading Julia Quinn's Bridgeton book series and I am so happy I did! First, it's important for me to say that I did watch the Netflix season so I definitely had some background information and knowledge on the storyline. Also, to give everyone some perspective on the timeline here, I read the first five books in one weekend and then finish the series the following weekend. So within 7 days but with the weekdays as a break.

Book one, I was worried that because I loved the TV series so much book one might fall flat, but boy oh boy, it most certainly did not. The book was as good, if not better then the series! I do have to say that I was really impressed by how similar the series on tv followed the book, usually there are much bigger differences between adaptations. Sometimes I get some annoyed by the big changes from book to movie that I don't watch but this was done so well.

Knowing the storyline didn't affect how I fell into the book and needed to know what happened. The next three books are the stories of Anthony, Benedict and Colin, all really enticing as well. Anthony might be my favourite book so far but I loved finally seeing Colin take centre stage since he didn't do much in the tv series. Benedict's story is also beautiful but it has a lot of cinderella vibes which I wasn't the biggest fan of at first, once the whole "who is she"/ "runs away at midnight" story passed and the novel continued I really loved how the author created their lives.

The next book, 5th if we are following the sequence, is Eloise's story. I have to say, this one is where I got stuck. It took me so long to get through this one in comparison to the other books. I flew through the other sibling's stories but Eloise's I found really slow and although I kept with the slow burn to see where it went, I wasn't flying through the pages like I was in the first four novels.

Next up was Francesca and WOW, this one was so surprising. A storyline I have never read before and it kept me on my toes the whole way through. All the siblings so far had relatively easy relationships but Francesca goes through the loss of her husband and then the book fast-forwards a few years to her present story. What a great way to turn around the family dynamic and show a different sibling then the rest!!!

Finally, I got to Gregory and his story was also so great. He was a true believer in love after seeing all his siblings find it but the pressure of following in their footsteps also affected him heavily. It was so great to see in the last three books how the success of the older siblings affected the younger ones. I also loved how Violet is present in every book in a different capacity, but always supporting her children. It is also so fun when she acts and treats them differently not based on how she feels but based on how well she knows her kids. I loved this whole book but I have to say the second epilogue which is about 8 years into the future after the ending of the book was like a whole book in and of itself and had me dying when turning the pages. If you read this book do not skip the epilogues they change everything!

Last but certainly not least, we see Hyacinth in all the books as she grows up and is a part of almost every relationship above that forms, especially Gregory's since they are closer in age. Her book really brings every aspect full circle with characters that are minor in other books, being much more involved like Lady Danburry. What I love about this story specifically is how her intelligence is highlighted in this novel especially. The love story between herself and Gareth is one of the more predictable ones, but the twists of his own family dynamic and their trust in each other to get through the tough times is really what readers rally behind.

Overall, the books make me so excited to see the next seasons come to Netflix and see these characters come alive on our screens. We have to give a lot of credit to Violet and the overall family dynamic for adding so much value to each book and layers of complexity!

I hope you guys loved this blog as much as I loved reading the stories of these 7 books!
