Side Hustle: Q & A
Hey gems,
I asked you all to send in any and all questions on my instagram for me to answer here in a more detailed way. A lot of them were about juggling a career, a hobby and a side project all at once and taking online courses. So let's dive right in!
Firstly, this kind of additional income, project or learning experience isn't one that is supposed to cause added stress. So my number one key recommendation is to make sure you're embarking on something you enjoy. That is really the main key to this because there will be times, no matter how organized you are, that you become overwhelmed so I highly recommend choosing your own sanity over dollar signs any day.
Once you narrow down items you enjoy, you guys asked me how to find clients for income, or if you're looking at taking courses, how to find them. All of the above can be answered really simply: Network. I guarantee that each of you know people in an enormously wide range of careers, who all have their own connections and who have all taken added courses, met people from diverse backgrounds, etc. When talking to people around you, bring up the idea that you are thinking of kick starting and I promise you people will give you suggestions and recommendations. These may not directly lead to anything but they can start your though process on where you can go from there.
How to know how big to go? This was one of my favourite questions because it is something that crosses everyones mind. Whether you're pursuing studies or launching a business, the idea of "how big to make this" or "how big to dream" is a completely normal train of thought. I think we all love to dream big and it is almost a reflex. I had days where I thought of how big, how wild and how far I can take Tia Things. Who am I kidding I still daydream of it all the time but I think that is natural. The key here is to be patient and start slow, take small steps and see where the new path takes you.
Honestly, my number one piece of advise here is not to cut yourself short, not to sell yourself short, and most certainly never to underestimate your potential.
So cheers to aiming high and never settling!
