Side Hustle: Q & A

Image
Hey gems, I asked you all to send in any and all questions on my instagram for me to answer here in a more detailed way. A lot of them were about juggling a career, a hobby and a side project all at once and taking online courses. So let's dive right in! Firstly, this kind of additional income, project or learning experience isn't one that is supposed to cause added stress. So my number one key recommendation is to make sure you're embarking on something you enjoy. That is really the main key to this because there will be times, no matter how organized you are, that you become overwhelmed so I highly recommend choosing your own sanity over dollar signs any day.  Once you narrow down items you enjoy, you guys asked me how to find clients for income, or if you're looking at taking courses, how to find them. All of the above can be answered really simply: Network. I guarantee that each of you know people in an enormously wide range of careers, who all have their own connec...

New Car

Image
Hey gems After years of people hassling me about why I don't have my own car, watching all my friends get their first cars, and daydreaming about the day I would have my own, the day has finally come! I am now the proud owner of a compact SUV! It finally feels as though the wait was worth it now that I have my very own car! (Also known as Troy the Truck- yes, I name my car) I didn't think it would mean so much to me, but this car really does make me proud of all my hard work, savings and makes the wait to own a car worth it. I've spent 7 years sharing cars with my parents and watching everyone around me show off their first cars. I am proud to say that I can now be the driver that takes the girls out on shopping days, drives on date night and can go do the groceries- not that I want to do the groceries!  I only began to truly want my own car when I started working full time. The desire for a car really amplified recently when I went on my third road trip a...

How to Survive University

Image
Hey there my busy bees! Life has some hectic moments, and although I've loved school all my life, university has definitely been a tough three years. There's been a mix of perfect and hectic times but through it all I learned so much. Here are some tips to staying ahead and surviving the three-four years of university you might be in! 1. Lists The best thing to do to keep up with assignments, part time jobs, exams, and readings is to make lists. It sounds a little redundant maybe, but being able to see what you have to do, in what order and when it is all due, is extremely helpful. 2. Everyone is in the same boat I know this sounds a little obvious but when things are at their most hectic, it helps to remember that you're not the only one trying to keep up. Everyone is working and attending school, some from far away and some work 3 jobs. We're all just trying to manage and survive through it all. Leaning on people around you, opening up, and being honest about...

Cry like a Girl

Image
Hey guys, Today I'd like to be super real with you guys! I'm going to go through the two most common things that people say to me that used to affect me the most, and sometimes still do. It doesn't matter if they are joking or not, these two phrases are always tough for me to hear. A Cry Baby I am a very emotional person. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve and when I need to cry, or feel the tears coming, there's no way for me to hold them in. Even if, for example I'm in public and I want to hold back my tears, once I feel them coming, there's no stopping them. I used to be so embarrassed about this Sometimes, it still is so upsetting that as much as I want to be strong, I just can't keep myself from crying. This has led to me being called a crier, a big baby, sensitive, etc. People often call me a baby as a joke but what they don't know is that it hits pretty hard every time. I want to project a strong and confident image but being emotional m...

Makeup Madness

Image
Hey guys! I'm so excited or today's blog! I am not the kind of girl to wear makeup everyday, a little mascara  if I have time and I'm out the door. But that all changes if I'm going to an event or a party! I will get ready hours early and make sure my face is looking just right! I love it when I get the chance to go all out on my makeup, its always so fun to try new things, add new colors and have some fun! **All of my makeup products which are on this blog are drugstore products and super affordable. The only product which isn't drugstore bought is the Becca Highlight, and although it's a bit more expensive it's totally worth it! I've had mine for over a year and it's not near being finished so definitely a good investment to make.** Mascara My mascara is my best friend, on a lazy day or getting ready for a night out, it makes all the difference. Not only is Mascara a quick and easy way to add to your look, but it's inexpensive and yo...

Summer's Salute!

Image
This year, summer was emotional, unexpected, beautiful, and terrifying. Through the good, bad and sweaty, summer kept me on my toes, so here's a little tribute to summer '18.  The season started by taking all the plans I had made, and flipping them upside down. Not only, was I supposed to spend a MONTH on vacation with my closest friends and family, but I wasn't going to work, possibly go to Disney and spend 31 days with my toes in the sand. It was supposed to be THE summer of ALL summers. But then it wasn't. Some mix up at the office meant my parents couldn't take the time off, and there was no hope for me to take off on my own, so I cried and said adios to my dream summer and aloha to NOTHING. Too late to take hours at work, plan another vacation or make any plans remotely close to a month on the beach. So there I was, mid may, knowing exactly 5 things: 1. I was not going on vacation. 2. I was now signed up to 3 summer courses at school. 3. My...
