Midterm Survival Guide

Hey guys!
Tis' the season of midterms, which means no sleep, sweat pants and a LOT of coffee. But don't worry Tia Things has some quick tips and tricks to make midterm season slightly less unbearable.. as hard as that is to do! So here are some of my tips to survive those midterm exams.

Knowing when all your exams are and being able to schedule around them your study time and your social life makes a huge difference. Just the fact that you are mentally prepared for a crazy week helps it pass easier. You can schedule study sessions, breaks and time away from anything school related to keep yourself sane. Not to mention you can get some sleep knowing you have time for everything that is coming. SCHEDULES ARE KEY PEOPLE!

2. Don't over do it!
Yes you have a lot going on; School, work, friends and now these exams on top of it. So keep in mind that there is enough going on at the moment and it isn't time to take extra shifts at work, join any clubs or go partying. Not only is the lack of sunshine affecting you already, causing mood swings and the cold just making you want to hibernate, but now you want to add in some extra unnecessary work? I think not. Take your time, or even take time off if needed, there is nothing wrong with admitting that you're overwhelmed and taking the steps to fix that.

3. Distractions
In that really useful schedule thingy I just mentioned, make time for distractions. Nothing school or work related, nothing that's additionally stressful or straining. Something goofy, fun or that relieves stress! If you love working out, make time for that (not me personally but I won't judge). I'm a book worm so I make time to read some super cheesy love story just because I can. Video gamer? Do it. Love dogs? Throw a puppy party! (Don't forget to send me an invite!) Bottom line is make time for something that you love, an escape from the stress, because you'll need it.

4. Dance Breaks
Dance breaks are EVERYTHING. Writing that paper, studying the 400 page textbook  or listening to the online lectures, your eyes start to blink too much and your attention is anywhere but on the material? Dance break. Blast some music, jump around, get your body moving and think of nothing but moving to the beat. 2-3 songs and you'll be refreshed and woken up enough to throw in another hour of studying. This is straight from Jenny Han's book but I swear it works! (Read my Book review to find out more about her work!)

5. Ask for help
Like I mentioned before needing help and being overwhelmed are both very real things that every single person understands. The important thing is to not let yourself drown in the stress but ask for help, tips, study with friends, get your family to quiz you, take you out of the house, etc. Whatever you need, the people around you are in the same boat or have been so they will most likely be happy to help you out!

Good luck!!
