Quarantine Discoveries and Favourites
Hey gems,
As quarantine is slowly ending where I am from, I took a bit of a look back and wanted to share some of my favourite moments and discoveries that came out of this really weird time.
1. Happiness Class
Thats right ladies and gentlemen, I am now a Yale graduate... Well almost. I took a class on Coursera- which is an amazing platform of free online classes. The class was called The Science of Wellbeing and it was offered by Yale University FOR FREE. That's right: Yale and free. I loved this class I feel like the timing and learning of the subject was just so useful in the scenario of the pandemic and the anxiety that comes along with it. I definitely would highly suggest for anyone who is struggling with anxiety or who generally would enjoy some wellbeing focused learning. It honestly was similar to listening to a podcast in the background of my day and so soothing.
2. Working from home
Gathering and self-isolation restrictions meant my company had us all work remotely during the Pandemic. Firstly, we are so so lucky to have had this opportunity and to continue to work through quarantine. I do have a quite a commute to work so this is really life changing to me. The extra sleep, time to organize and flexibility have been phenomenal. Don't get me wrong, living with my parents and working from home has had its challenges, but its truly such a blessing.
3. Facetime
Goodness gracious I have never had such an appreciation for the app that brings peoples faces together. I used FaceTime a record amount during the beginning of the pandemic for the first two months about, we were completely quarantined and I didn't leave the house at all so this was something that was so so helpful.
4. Reading
I've mentioned before how amazing reading is for my mental status. I really do find myself happiest and calmest when I am nose deep into a book. I actually found myself craving more and more books and always Saving a time slot in my days off to read for a few hours. Some people workout, some people paint, I read. I actually also added a highlight to my Instagram so you guys can check out all my book recommendations there!
As much as this pandemic brought so much sadness and stress on our world, it also now allows us to be more grateful than ever for the small things, human interaction, and simple things like a hug.
I can't wait to be able to travel again but in the meantime the small and steady steps back to "normal" are more than welcome!
Talk soon,
T
