March book of the month: Every Summer After

Happy, happy, happy Spring! The rain and mud are upon us but the good news is that we know soon enough the blossoms are coming!

I’ve decided to start a new series on the blog where I will showcase a book of the month every month that is my top pick! 

In March, although many great books came and went, the biggest standout is hands down Every Summer After by Carley Fortune! This book brought my soul happiness!

The book is set on a couple and through time jumps, flashbacks and more, you slowly put together crumbs of a story that leaves your jaw on the floor! 

Throughout the epic childhood and teen years of the main Characters Persephone and Sam, you know there are missing pieces you haven’t gotten to see yet. Especially when they cross paths again after a loss as adults. There is an obvious missing piece that caused issues but readers only got that details at the end and let me tell you… jaw met floor!

 Hey gems,  I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine as summer is approaching! We have been busy trying to pick out all the furniture for the new place. It has been quite a wild journey to get here so I thought I would take some time to review everything that has been going on! Firstly, my favourite store by far is Structube , it is my favourite place and has such a great variety of items but way less overwhelming then a big store like Ikea.  The first thing we picked is our dining table and chairs. The chairs are warm brown leather and the table has a fake live edge that I LOVE! This was the easiest item to choose by far! This is all in a warm theme and tones that will go well with the dark floors and cabinets. Low budget Fall (lockdown) date ideas

Hey gems! How is everyone doing? Recently I have had to get super creative when it comes to date nights especially with the new lockdown we are limited in where we can go. So of course date night often include walks because not only is it great to get fresh air but it helps with the mental components of being stuck inside. We get tired of them quick though and need to mix it up during the week so here is what I came up with! Turn TV into games: You can chose any show or movie you are watching and turn it into a game! For example, every time a certain character says their catch phrase you either take a bite, drink or do something silly that you both agree on! it can be something silly or answering any question! This basically gets as creative as you want to! Newlywed game (quiz) Basically any type of quizzing each other on how well you know each other! We did this with my sister and her boyfriend as a competition but it can be fun just between the two of you as well! This is super cute

Dear 2020

Dear 2020, You certainly threw us for a loop didn’t you? We were all chanting about 20/20 vision and you thought “Ha just wait and see!”. Not only did you show us just how quickly we can lose everything we thought we would always have, you have given us a new appreciation for things we used to let go unnoticed.  In March, we all thought we were getting a fun two weeks of break, two weeks working from home, a little fun time. Boy oh boy did we learn pretty quick that we would be home and confided longer and with more restrictions added on weekly.  At first, part of me loved it. I’ve always been a home body but man did that get pushed to every limit possible.
