Colleen Hoover: Book Review

Hey Gems,

I hope you are all enjoying the start of 2022 so far! As the year kicks off, the books I have been binge reading have been by Colleen Hoover. She is the master of plot twists and depth characters. I thought a great blog to kick off 2022 would be a review of some of her masterpieces!

Regretting you:

Regretting You is a story which follows the life of a mother daughter duo as they navigate some devastating losses and shocking truths coming to light. Going through their losses in very different ways, being a teen and young mom, shocking realities shifting their lives and old friends coming back into their lives sums up the different levels in this novel. From new loves to old best friends, these two go through the novel by falling apart before falling together. Although this story is really heart wrenching at times, it is a softer novel from Colleen, much easier to read then other novels she is known for the shock.

Verity:

OKAY WTF! This book is the definition of plot twist. This novel is actually the first I have ever read where the plot follows an author. This alone is an inception that is super interesting. In this novel, an up and coming author is reading the memoirs of a very well known author who can no longer write for herself. Through this, the up and coming author learns many dark truths, meets and falls in love with the popular authors husband and kids, and some very dark secrets are revealed. The levels of inception, plot twists, dark romance, thriller mystery, etc. in this novel are unparalleled to any novel I've previously read. Not to mention the final plot twist will leave you throwing your book across the room!

It Ends with us:

Alright gems, if Verity had me throwing my book at the wall, It Ends with us had me crying for hours. This novel takes readers on an in-depth journey that will shake your core. The difficulty here is the tough topic lines such as abuse, which bring fiction too close to reality for many. The story follows a young woman through her love life, tribulations, past trauma, and more. This cycle of difficult patterns will push you to your limit and make you uncomfortable. But the realism and depth of the story almost makes me feel as though everyone should read it to be more aware that although this novel is fiction, it is reality for far too many.

My little reader gems I hope you dive into these books with the passion Colleen writes. She brings us into the depths a a world both scary and beautiful at once, lessons learned and tears shed! Comment below if you have other books you recommend me reading!

Talk soon gems,

T
