Welcome back to Tia Things! It has been over a month since my last blog and boy has it been a busy one! Life has certainly been keeping me busy so here comes a little recap shall we?

1. I got promoted: That's right ladies and gents, I am thrilled to have been promoted at work. It was a very hard year and busy few months and there is nothing like the feeling of being rewarded for your hard work. For those of you who don't know I work for. fast-paced and always entertaining Public Relations Agency. I really love what I do but as my boss says, there are times we love every day and then there are times where we are trying to control the incoming flood! It gets busy fast and things take time before they slow down! It is one of those feelings that is an adrenaline rush but too much isn't healthy. 

2. We are home owners: After weeks of house hunting and a difficult market we have finally found our place to call home. My better half and I are so THRILLED! We are still going through the inspection process but if all goes well stay tuned for some home decor and moving blogs this summer!

3. Personal Struggles: Over the last month I truly felt the weight of the winter on my shoulders. I say "of the winter" because the last season has been very hard on my mental and emotional state. There were a few weeks were I truly felt as though I was losing my mind. I had some tough conversations with friends that were the most helpful but really I think it was a "time will heal all wounds" thing. 

All to say, I am back, ready to write and have so much fun content coming soon!

 Hey gems,  I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine as summer is approaching! We have been busy trying to pick out all the furniture for the new place. It has been quite a wild journey to get here so I thought I would take some time to review everything that has been going on! Firstly, my favourite store by far is Structube , it is my favourite place and has such a great variety of items but way less overwhelming then a big store like Ikea.  The first thing we picked is our dining table and chairs. The chairs are warm brown leather and the table has a fake live edge that I LOVE! This was the easiest item to choose by far! This is all in a warm theme and tones that will go well with the dark floors and cabinets. We also have been very budget conscious in the whole process and the table was a great price for a larger size so this was a no-brainer.  The next main items I picked out are decor because I had some very specific ideas like a gallery wall and big mirrors! Low budget Fall (lockdown) date ideas

Hey gems! How is everyone doing? Recently I have had to get super creative when it comes to date nights especially with the new lockdown we are limited in where we can go. So of course date night often include walks because not only is it great to get fresh air but it helps with the mental components of being stuck inside. We get tired of them quick though and need to mix it up during the week so here is what I came up with! Turn TV into games: You can chose any show or movie you are watching and turn it into a game! For example, every time a certain character says their catch phrase you either take a bite, drink or do something silly that you both agree on! it can be something silly or answering any question! This basically gets as creative as you want to! Newlywed game (quiz) Basically any type of quizzing each other on how well you know each other! We did this with my sister and her boyfriend as a competition but it can be fun just between the two of you as well! This is super cute

Dear 2020

Dear 2020, You certainly threw us for a loop didn’t you? We were all chanting about 20/20 vision and you thought “Ha just wait and see!”. Not only did you show us just how quickly we can lose everything we thought we would always have, you have given us a new appreciation for things we used to let go unnoticed.  In March, we all thought we were getting a fun two weeks of break, two weeks working from home, a little fun time. Boy oh boy did we learn pretty quick that we would be home and confided longer and with more restrictions added on weekly.  At first, part of me loved it. I’ve always been a home body but man did that get pushed to every limit possible. I never wished I can do little things like go to the movies or a mall without being terrified of how many items I’m touching more in my life. 2020 has given us the gift of perception.
