Talk to me
Hey guys,
How have you been? I mean that very seriously, especially since we just rounded out 23 weeks since the initial shutdown. Coronavirus is lasting longer than we ever thought and its toll reaches far beyond that of just the healthcare system. When I have been speaking to people recently everyone seems anxious, tired, and emotionally drained. So I mean it when I say; How are you?
I think we are all finding this time difficult, so we need to share because the truth is, we are not alone. Everyone is feeling moments of sadness, overwhelming anxiety, and frustration. Why keep it bottled up?
Let's be real, be honest and allow ourselves to feel. I am a highly emotional person, anyone who knows me well knows that I feel things very intensely and sometimes can't shake feeling blue for a long while. This is exactly why my sister put in place the timed crying rule. Now let me tell you, she is a genius. When something sad happens, if I am having an emotional day or I am overwhelmed, I tell her about it and she gives me a time. For example she will say 3 minutes. That means, I vented, now I have three minutes to crying, be sad, scream or laugh, but after three minutes, I need to move on. this isn't to say I never revisit or think of the issue, but it is simply to keep me from allowing emotions to take over for a whole day or get in the way of tasks and items I need to get done.
So this is me, asking you: How are you? Wherever you are reading this, whatever life is looking like, let yourself feel it but don't let it consume you my gems.
Sending all my love,
T
