Why I Started Tia Things

Hey there my 2019 gems!
I've been really busy but in the absolute best ways during the last few weeks. It got me thinking about different aspects of my life I haven't shared with you all and today's blog is one of them! I never really shared why I made the decision to start a blog in the first place so I thought today is the day!

I started this blog in September with very low expectations, disappointed in my current job prospects and completely unsure of everything. Basically the thought of starting a blog had occurred to me before, but I wasn't confident in my skills with technology, didn't trust my previous writing skills and honestly, I didn't think my life was anywhere near interesting enough to write about. The timing of this blog is everything to me. It's one of those moments where you think "Yup the right time just worked out". Basically my writing skills and my comfort with different software improved because I am now in my last year of University.  So I've had a lot of writing practice and I even had to do  a mock blog for a project! Those issues were solved! I can't say I think I have a life that's anything more than normal, but I do think I see now that everyone has something unique to offer, including me, so my boring and normal life might be the funniest thing to someone else!

In September, after finding out that I hadn't been chosen for my dream internship, I was crushed. I was so set on working, getting experience for my CV, etc. it was such a blow to my expectations to find out that wasn't happening. That was when the thought re-occurred to me, that if I start a blog, I would be gaining experience, I could also run social medias for it, and be able to add to my CV. Honestly, I didn't care so much if my life wasn't interesting because I didn't care at all if no one read it. At the end of the day, whether someone reads it or not doesn't change the fact that I do have a blog and I do have the experience of running it!

That's how it all started, me disappointed and motivated to make myself super eligible for any job I applied to next! That is how Tia Things started, next came some small social media, and then some big messages of support, a lot of views and now my blog is being read by thousands of people a month and I am still reeling! I still can't believe one or two would even take the time out of their day to read my blog, let alone all of you who follow my social medias and tweet me, message me, etc.

This blog was a spur of the moment decision and I think the lack of expectations really made it an even better experience than I could've ever imagined! People have been asking me to start a YouTube channel, post about specific topics, etc. and I couldn't be happier about the feedback. So here is to trying something new when Plan A doesn't quite work out how you thought, but better!

Talk soon!
