The Best Advice I've Ever Gotten
Hey there my gems,On my blog's Instagram (@tiathingsblog) I did a poll asking for what you want to see next in the blog and I absolutely loved this suggestion! There are three pieces of advice that stand out to me immediately when I think of the best advice I've ever gotten and they are the words I live by.
1. No one is looking
There are a lot of things I wish I could change about myself. The biggest thing being how much I care about what people think of me. I wish I didn't, I really do. The truth is that sometimes, it feels like everyone is judging me, watching me, laughing at me, even when they may not have even noticed me. It's a weird feeling, to think that everyone is scrutinizing you. I hate it and I think a lot of the time it comes form the pressure I put on myself. My mom is the one who told me "T, no one cares, no one is looking, no one will remember." All of which might sound harsh or irrelevant but when you're walking down a crowded hall thinking everyone is looking at you, the thought that they really don't care about the random stranger walking by actually makes a lot of sense.

2. Find someone who loves you a little more then you love them
Okay, this may seem a little depressing but bare with me here. I had been through my breakup and I was at a point of being completely okay with being single. This is when someone I had known for a long time and had actually babysat for told me the one sentence I will never forget. I even pass this on to those around me the most often: "Find someone who loves you a little more than you love them". Don't worry, I was pretty confused then too. What she meant was to find someone who makes you feel loved and cared for constantly. You shouldn't have to fight for someone's attention because they should always want to give it to you. They should be wanting to spoil you with love and affection.
*disclaimer this doesn't mean you love your partner less, just that you never have to wonder if they love you*
3. It is what it is
This is my mom's classic line. The words you'll hear whenever there is a problem, something unfair or an issue you just can't change or control. It is what it is. And I mean, it really is. I actually even have this phrase tattooed on me (fun fact). The truth is my family is all about being in control, I'd say that's our greatest flaw as a whole. Letting things go, not having a plan for everything and just letting the chips fall where they may. Somehow, no matter the situation, this line is always the one that comes out. At first it was my mom who would say it, and now its everyone, all the time. There isn't really a comeback for this either because no matter what, it really is what it is!
These three piece of advice are ideals that keep me sane in the tougher times. I have a few more that I love that I'll add down below but I'd love to hear how you gems feel about these three or your own favorite pieces of advice!
- Never make a long term decision in short term emotions.
- The world keeps moving even if you don't.
- The train of life will pass you by, either jump on or watch it go.
- You have only your own eyes, only one view.
