4 things that I learnt by running my blog

I started blogging for the sole and petty purpose of giving myself the experience that corporations refused to give me. There were so many unexpected lessons that starting a blog taught me I will break down the top 4 in today's blog!
  1. Thought sharing being therapeutic: I was always one to keep a journal, write tones of notes, or create a vision board. Documenting my dreams, emotions and life were always a natural thing to me. But there is something even more therapeutic about sharing it. Although I’m very particular about what I share and what I don’t, I feel as though sharing your emotions add such empowerment to them. Not only are you adding writing them for yourself, but it feels more powerful and vocal to be sharing them.
  2. Grow as a person: Blogging has definitely helped me grow as a person. I think people don’t realize all of the connections created by one blog. The blog helped me grow as a writer, which helped me land my full time job, which helped grow my confidence and my abilities. My life experience and work experience have both grown exponentially in only my first year of working full time. All of this was based off of the blog initially which lead to so many more opportunities than I could've ever imagined.
  3. The community: I had no intention of being committed to the blogging community. I didn’t even know there was one, let alone that I could join it. I had noticed that influencers built communities but I never really had been exposed to anything beyond that and assumed there was no community for small bloggers. Boy was I wrong! When I started growing my blog onto socials I quickly realized that twitter was huge for bloggers of all sizes and from around the world.
  4. Value : Where you place value vs where you don’t becomes focus once the blog is published and available to the world. There is so much power in expression but opening up to the world also means letting people, and their comments in. If you're thinking of starting a blog this is something you absolutely need to consider!
I really have loved my experience with my blog, but anyone who is planning on starting a blog should consider the pros, cons and what their goals are exactly, before going ahead with it.
