Winter Fashion Fixes

Hey there my gems,
A few weeks ago I blogged about my Quick Fashion Fixes, and you guys LOVED IT! I thought it might be fun to keep that going but let you in on my fashion secrets for the Winter! The tips I gave last time 100% still stand but there are extra layers and puffy coats which are unavoidable in this  season so why not fashion fix them?

1. Socks
Okay so it's freezing out and your little winter booties may not be the most fashionable item, but dang they keep you warm in our -40 degree weather. Here's how to make those booties a pair of cuties. Big, thick socks! There are so many options of different patterns, colors and thickness. This trend was all the rage last year and I live by it. Not only does it make your outfit look more put together, those booties cuter, but it also keeps you warm while you trek through the snow.

3. Puffy Cute
Those puffy coats aren't exactly the most form fitting, nor the biggest fashion pieces. Even if they are cute colors and lengths, at the end of the day they exist to keep you warm not fashionable. The best way to work with your puffy coats are the way you accessorize. A cute hat, scarf & glove combo makes you look super put together, not to mention, adorable mid-snowstorm. These accessories also allow you to be more versatile in how you wear your coat. For example, the weather warms a little? You can untie your coat and have your scarf tied in a super cute knot or bow, not to mention showing off your bomb outfit beneath.

5. Cozy
Cozy is how I define pretty much everything in the Winter. I want to live Cozy & Cute, look cozy & cute, and be cozy & cute!!!! The Winter makes jeans less comfortable, tight clothes less bearable and any tops made of flimsy material a recipe for freezing. I love chunky knits, warm leggings, and spending as much of the day as possible in my pajamas! Feeling warm, comfortable and cute, is 99% of the battle in the Winter. Looking like you're freezing cold means not enjoying your day and not feeling as great as you can be. Look good, feel good, am I right? So be sure to wear things that make you feel as good as they make you look!

6. Coats
Okay so obviously mid-snowstorm you have no other option than to wear your full puff Winter gear, but there are days where you need more options! I have about 3 Winter coats, all different in length, thickness and purpose. It's important to know what to wear for what occasion. For my internship, where I'll be driving door to door, I'll be wearing something more high fashion, less "snow ready". Not to mention, changing things up keeps you and those around you on their toes!

My top items for the winter:

Turtlenecks!
I'm absolutely obsessed! Tuck them into jeans for a high class look or knot them at the waist to crop them and give a little bit of sexy! Not to mention they come in all cozy fabrics ranging from cotton to wool. I personally love cotton because it allows the warmth of the turtleneck but not make you over heat!

Belts
Honestly the winter season drains me. The time and effort I want to put into my outfits goes way down and adding a cute little belt, maybe even a colorful one, goes a long way!

Cardigans
Again, how to stay warm but comfortable 101. Cardigans allow you to keep wearing your favorite tees and tanks all year round while staying cozy. Honestly, nothing better than wrapping yourself up in a cardigan, basically a blanket, to help you get through your day.

Crew Neck Sweaters
Okay, if I had to pick one item from my winter wardrobe that I have the most of and use the most, it would DEFINITELY be my crew neck sweaters. They come in all kids of patterns, from fashionable to "not leaving the house"! They can be paired with jeans, leggings or sweatpants, and are never boring!

Okay so that's it for my Winter Fashion fixes! I know comfort, warmth and fashion aren't always easy to achieve in one outfit but hopefully this helps my gems!

Talk soon,
T
